Lytron Awarded Workforce Training Fund Grant

Lytron was recently awarded a $106,800 grant for employee training and professional development. Lytron will be using the grant to pay for trainings for more than 150 office and factory employees in Massachusetts. The trainings will be largely focused on lean manufacturing and are expected to help improve overall product quality and first pass yields of custom chillers, cooling systems, cold plates, and heat exchangers. They are also expected to help Lytron identify ways to further increase efficiency under its current lean manufacturing program. Read Press Release

The Cooling Chronicle

Vibration Test Stand

Lytron announced yesterday that it has purchased a vibration test stand to further expand its in-house environmental testing capabilities. The vibration test stand will allow Lytron to offer shock and vibration testing of products it manufactures for its OEM customers in the commercial aviation, military, and traction industries. According to David Olds, Lytron’s vice president of engineering, “Lytron’s customers benefit from our ability to design, manufacture, and test their cooling solutions all in one location. We’re always looking for ways to add value, and vertical integration is one of the ways we reduce our customers’ costs as well as their time-to-market.” Read the Full Press Release

Lytron Announces 2010 Revenue Growth

October 31st marked the close of Lytron’s 2010 Fiscal Year (FY). Lytron grew its revenue more than 35% from FY 2009 to FY 2010. The revenue growth is primarily from ongoing business from Fortune Global 500 Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for custom designed and manufactured cooling systems, assemblies, cold plates, and heat exchangers. Lytron also increased its staff by 20% in FY 2010, adding engineers and factory employees at its Woburn, Massachusetts facility. Lytron has forecasted growth in FY 2011 as well.

Cooling System Control Board

Lytron recently hired two additional electrical engineers – one for the
design engineering department and one for the quality assurance department. Both hires were made to support Lytron’s growing cooling systems and assemblies business as well as ensure Lytron’s ongoing superior quality. Lytron’s technical team provides design, analysis, verification, and prototype development for liquid cooling systems and components. In addition, Lytron’s engineers partner with customers’ engineering teams to balance thermal, mechanical, and electrical performance requirements with cost, delivery, quality, and serviceability requirements.

Chiller Cools New Novus X-Ray Inspection System

One of Lytron’s OEM customers, Novus X-Ray, specializes in providing systems for the detection of product defects in closed packages by using non-invasive automated x-ray inspection techniques. The company recently integrated Lytron’s Kodiak recirculating chiller model RC009 into its new C4 x-ray inspection system. The chiller provides cooling to the x-ray generator as well as provides environmental temperature control for the IP69K, air tight, x-ray unit and the top sealed chamber of the cabinet. According to David DiPrato, the president and CEO of Novus, their engineers selected Lytron chillers because of the chillers’ high thermal performance, hot-gas bypass, PD pump, and overall value (capacity/price). A hot-gas bypass, which comes standard with every Lytron Kodiak recirculating chiller, extends the life of the compressor and improves the chiller’s reliability. For more information on Novus X-Ray, please call +1-215-962-3171.
